Working at Camp is unlike any other job. You are responsible for your campers day and night. You are their role model, acting as their older sibling, parent, and biggest supporter. You will set the example for them as we sing and cheer at the flagpole (Degel) before meals and guide them in keeping themselves and their cabins clean. You will be their biggest cheerleader as they try new things and their rock when they are having a tough day.

Responsibilities:  

– Directly responsible for the supervision and care of all campers living in assigned cabin, day-to-day involvement with all campers present at assigned activity locations, and the teaching of camp rules, policies, and traditions.

– Help campers make friends and become acclimated to life at Camp.

– Responsible for the health, safety, hygiene, and well-being of campers. Notify appropriate staff members of concerns.

– Build positive relationships and maintain appropriate boundaries with campers and staff of all ages.

– Ensure campers exercise good hygiene and health practices. Notify appropriate staff members of concerns.

– Help campers keep track of their belongings.

– Responsible for the cleanliness of the cabin.

– Participate regularly and enthusiastically in all assigned programming.

– Teach or assist in unit and elective activities; always be an active participant.

– Help plan and lead cabin activities.

– Attend in-camp training sessions and staff meetings as required.

– Be familiar with all emergency procedures and first aid.

Supervised by: Assistant Director – Lincoln City Day Camp

Day Camp Counselors will spend the majority of the day with Day Camp and their evenings and weekends with their assigned Overnight Camp cabin. They have responsibilities to both Day Camp and Overnight Camp during the hours in which they are working for each.

General Qualifications:

– Ability to communicate with and care for both campers and peers. 

– Have a basic understanding of child development. 

– Demonstrate maturity, respect, and kindness.

– Ability to give and accept guidance and support.

– A willingness and ability to ask for help.

– Ability to assist in activities, both leading and supporting.

– Be able to work professionally with a variety of staff members and campers.

Responsibilities:

– Directly responsible for all campers in assigned Day Camp group during the day, which includes day-to-day involvement with campers and the teaching of camp rules, policies, and traditions.

– Outside of Day Camp hours (evenings), or when Day Camp is not in session (weekends), you are required to be with your assigned Overnight Camp cabin and fulfill your duties as an Overnight Bunk Counselor.

– Help every camper make friends and become acclimated to life at Camp. 

– Responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of all campers at all times. 

– Maintain & build appropriate boundaries/relationships with campers and staff of all ages.  

– Help campers keep track of their belongings. 

– Directly responsible for the cleanliness of their Day Camp room and assisting with cabin upkeep.

– Participate regularly and enthusiastically in all programming. 

– Teach or assist in unit and elective activities; always be an active participant. 

– Assist in planning and leading group activities. 

– Attend in-camp training sessions and staff meetings as required. 

– Be familiar with all emergency procedures and first aid.

Qualifications:

– Must possess strong swimming skills and pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training & Certification course.

– Ability to communicate with and care for both campers and peers. 

– Have a basic understanding of child development. 

– Demonstrate maturity, respect, and kindness.

– Ability to give and accept guidance and support.

– A willingness and ability to ask for help.

– Ability to assist in activities, both leading and supporting.

– Be able to work professionally with a variety of staff members and campers.

– Qualities of a caretaker.

Responsibilities:

– Responsible for the upkeep, safety, and running of program areas and their on-site supplies: The Pool Area and Waterfront/Dock Area.

– Responsible for lifeguarding both pool and open water locations.

– Oversee and conduct swim tests of every person on-site who plans on swimming at any point during their time at Camp.

–Responsible for daily cleaning, and weekly updates of all water locations.

–Report to the Aquatics Director for all lifeguarding questions or concerns.

– Valid Oregon or Washington Boater’s license is strongly encouraged.

– Directly responsible for the supervision and care of all campers living in assigned cabin when not performing lifeguarding duties. Assuming the responsibilities of a Bunk Counselor

–Report to Unit Head for all counseling questions or concerns.

Qualifications:

– Confidence and ability to lead a group of 30+ campers and staff on Unit Overnights and Day Trips

– Qualities of a caretaker.

Responsibilities:

 – Attend Unit Head, Leadership, and other supervisory meetings.

– Help implement, uphold, and support camp policies.

– Oversee the implementation and execution of all programming for assigned unit.

– Incorporate unit staff members in program planning and leadership.

– Manage all site and supply arrangements with the support and approval of the Asst. Director of Programming.

– Ensure unit staff are always at their assigned locations; know where all of your unit staff and campers are at all times.

– Act as a role model for all staff, including being present within the unit. Be the counselor’s support and assist staff with problems and questions.

– Serve as the primary supervisor for assigned unit staff, regularly evaluating their performances and caring for the well-being of all campers within the unit.

– Act on behalf of the unit for issues involving the camp community.

– Lead regular unit staff meetings; check in with each unit staff individually at least once daily.

– Be directly involved and participate with all campers and staff in the daily program.

– Communicate with the Directing Team on key matters

– Understand the camper and staff needs.

– Extensive knowledge of social, behavioral, and developmental issues with children and adolescents.  

– Experience working with children, youth, and teens.  

– Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision. 

– Ability to give and take constructive criticism. 

– Social work/Psychology/Education or equivalent experience preferred.  

– Preferred 21+ with a valid driver’s license

  

Responsibilities:  

– Attend all leadership team and other supervisory meetings.  

– Responsible for daily check-in and out procedures for Day Camp and communicating with parents when necessary.

– Help formulate, implement, and support camp policies.

– Support the counselors in their work with campers, under the direction of the Camp Director. This includes discipline problems, moments of sadness, interpersonal issues, and adjusting to the camp environment.    

– Support and advise staff on working with campers who have been identified with special needs/accommodations/behaviors, including how to design and implement behavior plans.   

– Ensure consistent communication with counselors, overnight staff and the Camp Director. 

– Be present in camper units daily, including staff meetings, to support staff.

– Advise program areas and specialists on how to accommodate individual camper needs in different activities.  

– Participate in the process of parent communications for camper care-related issues. 

– Participate in documentation of camper care issues, parent phone calls, and camper interactions that take place during the summer.  

– Participate in meetings to update the Director on camper issues and welfare daily.  

– Serve as a positive role model for staff.

Supervised by: Assistant Director – Programming

Qualifications:  

– Have a basic understanding of child development. 

– Ability to communicate effectively with campers and fellow staff.

– Extensive knowledge and expertise in First Aid/CPR/AED, especially within water settings

– Experience supervising and leading a team of aquatics staff.

– Demonstrate maturity, respect, and kindness

– Valid Oregon or Washington Boater’s license is strongly encouraged.

– 3+ years of lifeguarding or equivalent experience preferred.

  

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

 – Supervise and lead all group SIT activities.

– Carry out all scheduled curriculum for the SIT program

– Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Teen & Staff Engagement.

– Meet frequently with each individual SIT to check in on their well-being and satisfaction.

– Plan and lead fun SIT activities to build cohesion as a group.

– Work with Unit Heads and other Leadership members to make sure all SITs are behaving properly with their cabin.

– Bridge the gap between SITs and staff. Show our SITs what it means to be a part of the BB Camp Staff.

– Meet with the Leadership team to work through problems and further develop the SIT program.

– Be directly involved and participate with all campers, SITs, and staff in the daily program.

– Be able to maintain a log of the SIT program throughout the summer.

– Complete a final write-up of the SIT program.

Qualifications:  

– Have a basic understanding of child development. 

– Ability to communicate effectively with campers and fellow staff.

– Experience with social media, marketing, and/or photography. 

– Strong interest and/or proficiency in communicative/expressive/creative writing (clever captions, blog posts, etc.) 

– Demonstrate maturity, respect, and kindness in all written communications

  

Responsibilities:  

– Create a summer marketing plan with the assistance of the Marketing Director and the Assistant Director of Teen & Staff Engagement.

– Create social media content (Instagram, Facebook, Campanion, TikTok) to be posted at least once a day from camp.

– Draft weekly blog posts for parents

– Send out all Staff Intros, Camper updates, and Unit emails by assigned deadlines.

– Upload photos and videos to our Google Drive regularly.

– Produce a fun creative project (or multiple projects) with Campers that will represent Camp for fundraising and recruitment.

– Create the end-of-session slideshow presentation for campers at the end of each session.

– Assist in the collection of videos and photos for off-season marketing campaigns.

– Attend off-camp trips when able to photograph activities

– Must have experience with photography, graphic design, and social media.

– Basic understanding of childhood and adolescent development concepts.

– Ability to creatively plan and schedule programming and camp activities.

– Maximize the skills & talents of staff members under your direct and indirect supervision.

– Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.

– Must be a self-starter, skilled at time management.

– Must have demonstrated successful leadership skills and the ability to motivate, coordinate, and meet deadlines.

– Previous BB Camp or Jewish overnight camp experience preferred 

– Preferred 18+ with a valid driver’s license 

Responsibilities:  

– Supervise all specialists. And monitor their wellbeing.

– Checking in frequently to make sure their programs are running accordingly.

– Oversees that all chug activities are successful and necessary supplies are stocked where they should be.

– Report to the Assistant Director of Programming to give updates about how chugs are running and if any changes need to be made.

– Attend all regularly scheduled Leadership meetings

– Make sure all chug locations are clean and organized

– Will attend Leadership Weekend to better understand your role and build cohesion as a Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:  

–In charge of the coordination and execution of Skillbuilders, Individuals, and Evening Programs.

–Will keep a constant stock of programming supplies to ensure activities are ready.

–If supplies need to be ordered, they will work with the Assistant Director of Programming to do so.

–Will help ensure locations around camp are clean and supplies are where they should be.

–Attend all regularly scheduled Leadership meetings

–Will attend Leadership Weekend to better understand your role and build cohesion as a Leadership Team.

–Will report to the Assistant Director of Programming to make sure activities are running smoothly.

– Responsible for answering all of BB Camp’s calls through the summer season.

– Sorting and handling all mail/packages.

– Carrying out other general office administrative tasks.

– Driving campers and staff when required.

– Assisting in other ways around Camp as needed.

Supervisor: Camp Director

Qualifications:  

– Candidates must be licensed in Oregon. 

– Strong communication skills. 

– Compassionate approach to supporting children, youth, and teens in a camp environment. 

– Good bedside manner.

– Strict boundaries, and professional thought processes.

– Qualities of a caretaker.

  

Responsibilities:  

– Administer routine medications to campers in multiple practice environments (Wellness Center, outdoors, etc.)  

– Apply basic first aid to campers or staff. 

– Clinical assessment of campers and staff members during daily morning & evening clinic, in partnership with volunteer camp physicians.  

– Contribute to ongoing organization and planning in the Wellness Center, including packing medications for upcoming trips, preparing for new camp sessions, coordinating with physicians and pharmacies for any newly ordered medications, monitoring supplies, etc.  

– Manage administration of all medication, including OTC.  

– Manage parent communication in partnership with the Director of Community Care.  

– Manage Wellness Center facility, including supplies, documentation, files, etc.   

  

Supervisor: Camp Nurse/Wellness Center Manager

Qualifications:  

– Desire and ability to work with members of the medical profession in a camp setting. 

– Ability to stay organized and accomplish logistically focused tasks. 

– Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. 

– Ability to give & take constructive criticism. 

– Must be a self-starter and able to work without constant supervision. 

Responsibilities:  

Manage general Wellness Center tasks including, but not limited to: 

– Medicine distribution during mealtimes and bedtimes 

– Camper/Staff sick call clinic 

– Checking on Wellness Center patients 

– Supporting & assisting Camp nurses & doctors as needed 

– Arrange for prescriptions to be picked up by a member of the office staff

– Communicate with camp nurses and doctors about individual medical cases 

– Document & maintain a permanent log of evaluations in the camp database after treatments 

– Organize and file incident reports for major injuries and/or illnesses 

– Exercise good judgment and be safety conscious at all times.  

– Assist with the upkeep of the Wellness Center and medical supplies. 

– Contribute to packing medications for upcoming trips, preparing for new camp sessions 

– Assist with the overall health needs of the camp community

– Advise program areas and specialists on how to accommodate individual camper needs in different activities

 At BB Camp, Specialists positions include Aquatics, Adventures (ropes, archery, rock wall), Athletics, Arts, Drama, Dance, STEM, Music, Garden, Israeli Culture, Jewish Enrichment, and Tzofim! These positions are responsible for the development and execution of programming in their specialty area, the upkeep of their used spaces on Camp, and leading activity sessions for campers. Specialists should have prior knowledge or experience in their specialty area.  

Qualifications:

– Ability to communicate with both campers and peers. 

– Have a basic understanding of child development. 

– Demonstrate maturity, respect, and kindness.

– Ability to give and accept guidance and support.

– A willingness and ability to ask for help.

– Ability to assist in activities, both leading and supporting.

– Be able to work professionally with a variety of staff members and campers.

– Ability to serve as a role model for all campers. 

– Training and experience in the skills and safety of one’s specialty position. 

– Strong enthusiasm for, and broad-based knowledge of the specialty. 

– Ability to follow defined teaching requirements, while developing own methods of presentation to campers. 

– Must be able to effectively teach and lead programs to groups of 15-30. 

General Responsibilities:

– Develop the necessary program plans and rain plans prior to campers’ arrival at camp. Share program plans with supervisor and Camp leadership team before campers’ arrival.

– Be early and ready to lead your assigned activity.

– Set up for and break down from all activity periods.

– Assist in the coordination of activities for all age groups, as assigned by the programming team, as scheduled for each unit.

– Maintain facilities; keep a safe and clean activity area.

– Must clean up and return program supplies to their appropriate location after leading a scheduled activity.

– Assist in all activity areas within your specialty when assigned and/or requested.

– When not assigned to lead an activity, you are required to be with your cabin and fulfill your duties as a bunk counselor.

– Coordinate with the Specialist Coordinator on purchasing and procuring supplies in advance.

– Act as a general resource for other Camp activities relating to your specialty.

– Participate in other Camp programming as assigned.

– Exercise good judgment and always be safety conscious.

– Attend in-camp training sessions and staff meetings as required.

Adventures:

– Responsible for the upkeep, safety, and running of program areas and their on-site supplies: The Ropes Course and The Zipline/Climbing Tower.

– Maintain daily use logs and service notes on equipment.

– Must be comfortable working from heights up to 40 feet in the air.

– Must be capable of exerting physical effort while carrying up to 20lbs of gear.

– Must ensure strict adherence to all safety codes and rules.

– Must be ropes course trained and able to lead or support any ropes activity at Camp.

– Report to the Specialist Coordinator for all questions or concerns.

Athletics:

– Responsible for leading assigned sports activities and programs, including chugim, skill-builders, and individuals.

– Must have a strong working knowledge of common sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, frisbee, etc.)

– Must be able to coach all camper age groups.

– Must be able to participate in physical activity for multiple hours of the day.

– Must keep inventory and track of equipment with the ability to communicate needs in a time-efficient manner to the Specialist Coordinator.

– Report to the Specialist Coordinator for all questions or concerns.

Archery:

– Responsible for leading assigned sports activities and programs, including chugim, skill-builders, and individuals.

– Must have a strong working knowledge of common sports (basketball, soccer, baseball, frisbee, etc.)

– Must be able to coach all camper age groups.

– Must be able to participate in physical activity for multiple hours of the day.

– Must keep inventory and track of equipment with the ability to communicate needs in a time-efficient manner to the Specialist Coordinator.

– Report to the Specialist Coordinator for all questions or concerns.

Arts & Crafts:

– Responsible for the assigned arts and crafts activities at Camp.

– Has a strong working knowledge and passion for arts & crafts projects.

– Must maintain a clean, organized, and tidy Art Room.

– Must effectively track and manage ALL art supplies used.

– Must be able to lead creative and engaging activities for campers of all ages.

– Report to the Specialist Coordinator for all questions or concerns.

Drama:

– Responsible for the daily performing arts activities on site.

– Must have a strong working knowledge of theater skills and games.

– Must be able to effectively teach and lead programs to groups of 15-30 campers.

– Has experience in managing or producing theatrical performances.

– Report to the Specialist Coordinator for all questions or concerns.

Dance:

– Responsible for the daily dance programs on-site, and assists in leading weekly Friday Night Israeli Dance programs.

– Must have a strong working knowledge of dance, and learn all our Camp’s Israeli dances.

– Must be willing and able to teach all our Israeli dances to our campers.

– Must be able to participate in moderate physical activity for multiple hours of the day.

– Report to the Specialist Coordinator for all questions or concerns.

STEM:

– Responsible for the daily STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities on site.

– Must have a strong working knowledge of STEM skills and an understanding of how to teach those skills to campers in an engaging way.

– Be kind and patient, especially with younger campers. Show that STEM is fun and exciting for all ages.

– Report to the Specialist Coordinator for all questions or concerns.

Music:

– Responsible for the daily music activities on site, be the point person to lead song sessions after meals, support t’filah (prayer) services, and lead weekly Friday Night extended song sessions and Tisch.

– Must be able to learn our traditional campfire songs and be willing to teach others.

– Must have strong vocal skills.

– Must have knowledge of Jewish music and experience song leading.

– Work with campers who have been identified with special needs/accommodations/behaviors along with their counselors to proactively manage issues and create a positive camp environment.     

– Act as a role model for staff including being present within the unit. Be the counselor’s support and assist staff with problems and questions and participate with all campers and staff in daily programs.  

– Support the counselors in their work with campers, under the direction of the Assistant Director. This includes discipline problems, moments of sadness, interpersonal issues, and adjusting to the camp environment.    

– Support specialists in the design and implementation or programming and on how to accommodate individual camper needs in different activities.    

– Track and follow-up with camper incidents with campers, staff, and directors.

– Help formulate, implement, and support camp policies. 

– Serve as the primary supervisor for Unit Heads, regularly evaluating the performance of staff and caring for the well-being of campers within the unit.  

– Support and advise Unit Heads on working with campers who have been identified with special needs/accommodations/behaviors, including how to design and implement behavior plans.    

– Ensure consistent communication with counselors, Unit Heads, Site Director and the Day Camps Director.  

– Be present in camper units daily, including staff meetings, to support unit heads and staff. 

– Advise program areas and specialists on how to accommodate individual camper needs in different activities.   

– Participate in the process of parent communications for camper care-related issues . 

– Participate in the documentation of camper care issues, parent phone calls, and camper interactions that take place during the summer.

Responsibilities:   

– Attend all leadership team and other supervisory meetings.    

– Responsible for the well-being of assigned group of CITs 

– Lead CIT “meetings” during Group Time designed to help them build real-life skills and develop leadership abilities and independence. 

– Implement, design, and plan programming for the CITs (8th, 9th and 10th grade campers) around skill building and leadership. 

– Structure and plan the days and program schedules with help from the director team for the CITs, as well as assigning which groups they’ll be integrated into. 

– Regularly evaluate the programs and activities planned for CITs.   

– Be directly involved and participate with all campers and staff in daily programs.   

– Communicate with the director team on key matters.   

– Ensure consistent communication between counselors, Unit Heads, and CIT’s. 

– Advise staff on how to integrate individual CITs into different groups and activities.
