Working at Camp is unlike any other job. Responsibilities:  

– Directly responsible for all campers living in assigned cabins, which includes day-to-day involvement with campers and teaching of camp rules, policies, and traditions  

– Help every camper make friends, and become acclimated to life at Camp.  

– Responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of all campers at all times.  

– Maintain & build appropriate boundaries/relationships with campers and staff of all ages.  

– Ensure campers exercise good hygiene and health practices. Notify appropriate staff members of concerns.  

– Help campers keep track of belongings.  

– Directly responsible for the cleanliness of the cabin.   

– Participate regularly and enthusiastically in all programming.  

– Teach or assist in unit and elective activities; always be an active participant.  

– Plan and lead cabin activities.  

– Take an active role in evening programs and other unit-base/all-camp programs.  

– Attend in-camp training sessions and staff meetings as required.  

– Be familiar with all emergency procedures and first aid.

– Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision. 

– Must have demonstrated successful leadership skills and the ability to motivate, manage, and counsel. 

– Previous BB Camp or Jewish overnight camp experience preferred. 

– Preferred 21+ with a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities:

– Attend Unit Head and other supervisory meetings.  

– Help formulate, implement, and support camp policies. 

– Oversee the planning, preparation, and implementation of all programming for assigned unit. 

– Whenever possible, incorporate unit staff members in program planning and leadership. 

– Manage all site and supply arrangements with the support and approval of Asst. Director of Operations. 

– Help unit cabin staff to coordinate cabin activities: coordinating staff days off, writing daily schedules for units, etc. 

– Act as a role model for staff including being present within the unit. Be the counselor’s support and assist staff with problems and questions. 

– Serve as the primary supervisor for unit staff, regularly evaluating the performance of staff and caring for the well-being of campers within the unit. 

– Act on behalf of the unit for issues involving the camp community. 

– Lead regular unit staff meetings. 

– Be directly involved and participate with all campers and staff in the daily program. 

– Communicate with the Directing Team on key matters.

Please Note: Unit Heads live in staff housing.

Supervised by: Assistant Director of Operations  

The Logistics Driver will support the Operations & Logistics Team with camper and staff transportation, supply management and procurement, and on-camp logistic support at the discretion of the Assistant Director of Operations. The Logistics Driver must have a valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years old.   

Qualifications:  

– Skill and ability in working with children.  

– Ability to communicate effectively with campers and fellow staff.  

– Maintain a professional demeanor while representing BB Camp off-site.  

– Must be able to drive for up to 6 hours at a time.  

– Able to safely maneuver cars, pickup trucks, golf carts, and passenger vans. Previous experience preferred.  

– A valid US Driver’s License (International Driver’s License, if from outside of the US) and safe driving record.   

– Must be 21+ years of age.  

Responsibilities:  

– Serve as the primary driver for camp driving needs.  

– Act as a lead for first and last day camper transportation.  

– Assist in on-camp supply management with the support of the Asst. Director of Operations.  

– Assist in overnight and day trip transportation and supervision as needed.  

– Go on semi-weekly supply runs off camp and coordinate with Asst. Director of Operations on purchasing and procuring supplies.  

– Shuttle staff into town during their time off on a prescheduled basis.  

– Assist the Overnight Specialist with camping equipment management and ensure trips have their supplies prepared.  

Please note: The Logistics Driver may be housed in camper cabins or staff housing. They will not be responsible for supervising the campers in their cabin, that will be left to the responsibility of bunk staff and specialists.  

Supervised by: Assistant Director of Operations  

The Communications Specialist will support the Operations Team with photography, social media management, and communication needs. They will spend part of their day photographing campers during activities and following a schedule with the guidance of the Asst. Director of Operations.   

Qualifications:  

– Skill and ability in working with children.  

– Ability to communicate effectively with campers and fellow staff  

– Experience with social media, marketing, and/or photography.  

– Strong interest and/or proficiency in communicative/expressive/creative writing (clever captions, blog posts, etc.)  

  

Responsibilities:  

– Create a summer marketing plan with the assistance of the Marketing Director and the Asst. Director of Operations.  

– Create social media content (Instagram, Facebook, Campanion, TikTok) to be posted at least once or twice a day from camp.  

– Draft weekly blog posts and parent communication emails.  

– Upload and tag photos and videos on Google Drive and Campanion regularly.  

– Produce a fun creative project (or multiple projects) with Campers through an elective that will represent Camp for fundraising and recruitment.   

– Create the end-of-session slideshow presentation for campers at the end of each session.  

– Assist in the collection of videos and photos for off-season marketing campaigns.  

– Attend off-camp trips to photograph activities at the discretion of the Asst. Director of Operations.  

Please note: The Communications Specialist may be housed in camper cabins or staff housing. They will not be responsible for supervising the campers in their cabin, that will be left to the responsibility of bunk staff and specialists.

Supervised by: Associate Camp Director/Assistant Director of Operations  

The Overnight Specialist will be the primary trip facilitator for off-camp overnight camping trips. In partnership with the Unit Head(s), the Overnight Specialist will ensure trips have adequate supplies and equipment, enforce safety measures when off-site, facilitate team-building activities, and teach outdoor skills.   

Qualifications:  

– Experience with camping in multiple climates, including rain.  

– Ability to facilitate team-building activities and outdoor skills programs.  

– A valid US Driver’s License (International Driver’s License, if from outside of the US) and safe driving record.   

– Preferred: 21+ years of age.  

– Preferred: experience with a NOLS course, Wilderness Medicine, or equivalent. 

  

Responsibilities:  

– In partnership with the Unit Head, lead off-camp overnight camping trips.  

– Ensure all trips have the appropriate supplies, including cooking and camping equipment and food prior to. departure  

– Be familiar with emergency procedures at each campsite and ensure all staff are aware of protocols.  

– Teach outdoor skills such as pitching tarps, campsite cooking, and safety.  

– Ensure campfires (if permitted) are efficiently managed and extinguished.  

– Enforce “leave no trace” and ensure each campsite is completely cleaned up before departure. 

– During non-trip days, they will lead outdoor or camping skills programs on-site.  

– Participate in other Camp programming as assigned.  

– Exercise good judgment and be safety conscious at all times.   

Please note: The Overnight Specialist is expected to camp outdoors during trips. They will be provided with a sleeping mat and tent upon request, and are encouraged to bring their own equipment if desired. They are responsible for providing their own sleeping bag. When not on overnight trips, the Overnight Specialist will be in staff housing.  

Supervisor: Director of Community Care   

Qualifications:  

– Understand camper and staff needs.  

– Strong communication skills with campers, staff, and parents.  

– Extensive knowledge of social, behavioral, and developmental issues with children and adolescents.  

– Experience working with children, youth, & teens.  

– Social work/Psychology/Education or equivalent experience preferred.  

  

Responsibilities:  

– Support the unit heads and counselors in their work with campers, under the direction of the Director of Community Care. This includes discipline problems, moments of sadness, interpersonal issues, and adjusting to the camp environment.  

– Work with campers who have been identified with special needs/accommodations along with their counselors and unit head to proactively manage issues and create a positive camp environment.   

 - Ensure consistent communication with counselors, Unit Heads, Director of Community Care, and the Camp Director. 

– Be present in camper units daily, including staff meetings, to support unit heads and staff  

– Advise program areas and specialists on how to accommodate individual camper needs in different activities  

– Participate in the process of parent phone calls for camper care-related issues  

– Participate in the documentation of camper care issues, parent phone calls, and camper interactions that take place during the summer.  

– Participate in meetings to update the Director of Community Care on camper issues daily.  

– Serve as a positive role model for staff.

Supervisor: Director of Community Care   

Qualifications:  

– Candidates must be licensed in Oregon.  

– Strong communication skills.  

– Compassionate approach to supporting children, youth, and teens in a camp environment.  

  

Responsibilities:  

– Administer routine medications to campers in multiple practice environments (Wellness Center, outdoors, etc.)  

– Apply basic first aid to campers or staff. 

– Clinical assessment of campers and staff members during daily morning & evening clinic, in partnership with volunteer camp physicians.  

– Contribute to ongoing organization and planning in the Wellness Center, including packing medications for upcoming trips, preparing for new camp sessions, coordinating with physicians and pharmacies for any newly ordered medications, monitoring supplies, etc.  

– Manage administration of all medication, including OTC.  

– Manage parent communication in partnership with the Director of Community Care.  

– Manage Wellness Center facility, including supplies, documentation, files, etc.

Supervisor: Director of Community Care   

Qualifications:  

– Desire and ability to work with members of the medical profession in a camp setting.  

– Ability to stay organized and accomplish logistically focused tasks.  

– Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

– Must be a self-starter and able to work without constant supervision.  

Responsibilities:  

– Manage general Wellness Center tasks including, but not limited to:  

– Medicine distribution during mealtimes and bedtimes  

– Camper/Staff sick call clinic  

– Checking on Wellness Center patients  

– Supporting & assisting Camp nurses & doctors as needed  

– Arrange for prescriptions to be picked up by camp driver  

– Communicate with camp nurses and doctors about individual medical cases  

– Document & maintain a permanent log of evaluations in the camp database after treatments  

– Organize and file incident reports for major injuries and/or illnesses  

– Exercise good judgment and be safety conscious at all times.   

– Assist with the upkeep of the Wellness Center and medical supplies.  

– Contribute to packing medications for upcoming trips, preparing for new camp sessions  

– Assist with the overall health needs of the camp community  

– Attend in-camp training sessions and staff meetings as required.

Supervised by: Camp Director/Assistant Director   

 Specialist positions include Aquatics, Adventure (ropes, archery, rock wall), Athletics, Tzofim, Arts, Drama, Dance, STEM, Music, Garden, Israeli Culture, and Jewish Enrichment. These positions are responsible for the creation of program plans, the upkeep of their used spaces, and leading activities for campers. Specialists should have prior knowledge or experience in their specialty area.  

Qualifications:  

– Skill and ability in working with children.  

– Ability to communicate effectively with campers and fellow staff.  

– Ability to serve as a role model for all campers.  

– Ability to accept guidance and support.  

– A willingness and ability to ask for help.  

– Training and experience commensurate with the needs of specialty position.  

– When required, hold relevant certifications in the activity area  – When required, hold relevant certifications in the activity area.  

– Strong enthusiasm for and broad-based knowledge of the specialty.  

– Ability to follow defined teaching requirements, developing own methods of presentation to campers.  

– Must be able to effectively teach and lead programs to groups of 15-30.  

Responsibilities:  

– Develop the necessary program plans and rain plans prior to campers’ arrival at camp. Share program plans with supervisor and camp leadership team before campers’ arrival.  

– Set up for and break down from all activity periods.  

– Assist in the coordination of activities for all age groups, as assigned by the programming team, as scheduled for – each unit.  

– Maintain a safe and clean activity area.  

– Assist in all activity areas within your specialty.  

– Coordinate with Asst. Director of Operations on purchasing and procuring supplies.  

– Work with SIT’s (staff-in-training) as appropriate.  

– Act as a general resource for other Camp activities relating to your specialty.  

– Participate in other Camp programming as assigned.  

– Exercise good judgment and be safety conscious at all times.   

– Maintain facilities and supplies necessary for assigned specialty in good condition.  

– Attend in-camp training sessions and staff meetings as required.  

Aquatics:  

– Responsible for lifeguarding both pool and open water locations.  

– Must possess strong swimming skills and pass the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training & Certification course.

– Oversee and conduct swim tests of every person on-site.

– Maintain the upkeep of the Pool and Lakefront areas: including safety checks, daily cleaning, and weekly updates.

– Valid Oregon or Washington Boater’s license is strongly encouraged.  

Adventures:  

– Responsible for the upkeep, safety, and running of program areas and their on-site supplies: The Archery Range, The Ropes Course, and The Zipline/Climbing Tower.  

– Maintain daily use logs and service notes on equipmen.  

– Must be comfortable working from heights up to 40 feet in the air.  

– Must be capable of exerting physical effort while carrying up to 20lbs of gear.  

– Must ensure a strict adherence to all safety codes and rules.  

Athletics:  

– Responsible for leading daily sports activities.  

– Must have a strong working knowledge of common sports and activities and approach with a coaching mindset.  

– Must be able to participate in physical activity for multiple hours of the day.  

– Must keep inventory and track of equipment with the ability to communicate needs in a time efficient manner to their responsible parties.  

Tzofim (Israeli Scouts):  

– Must be a part of the annual delegation from the Tzofim.  

– Responsible for creating the summer scouting program which can include: outdoor skills, Teva (nature), and more!  

Arts & Crafts:  

– Responsible for the daily arts and crafts activities on-site.  

– Has a strong working knowledge and passion for arts & crafts projects.  

– Must effectively track and manage art supplies and maintain and clean and tidy art room.  

Drama:  

– Responsible for the daily performing arts activities on site.  

– Must have a strong working knowledge of theater skills and games.  

– Must be able to effectively teach and lead programs to groups of 15-30.  

– Has experience in managing or producing theatrical performances.  

Dance:  

– Responsible for the daily dance programs on-site and assists in leading a weekly Friday Night dance party.  

– Must have a strong working knowledge of Israeli Folk Dance and be able to teach these dances to others.  

– Must be able to participate in moderate physical activity for multiple hours of the day.  

STEM:  

– Responsible for the daily STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities on site.  

– Must have a strong working knowledge of STEM skills and an understanding of how to teach those skills to children in an engaging way.  

Music:  

– Responsible for the daily music activities on site, takes point in leading song sessions after meals, supporting t’filah (prayer) services, and leads a weekly Friday Night extended song session.  

– Must have strong vocal skills.  

– Must have some knowledge in Jewish music and song leading.  

– The ability to play the guitar or similar instrument is preferred.   

Garden:  

– Responsible for the daily gardening activities on site.  

– Must have a strong working knowledge of gardening.  

– Must be comfortable in maintaining a healthy garden and harvesting crops.  

Israeli Culture:  

– Responsible for the daily Israeli Culture activities on site and takes the lead on working with our Israeli staff on designing and running a full day of Israel programming.  

– Must have a strong working knowledge of the culture and people of Israel and be able to teach engaging lessons on these subjects.  

 Jewish Enrichment:  

– Be able to plan and organize appropriate Jewish learning and bonding programming.  

– Must have a strong working knowledge of Jewish history, practices, and ritual and be able to design programs that engage children with these topics.  

– Ability to craft creative programming in line with our seven core Jewish values. 

– Have an understanding of Shabbat rituals and traditions.  

  

Please note: Most specialists live in camper cabins and are part of a unit staff team. All specialists are expected to contribute to night coverage and general supervision needs.

– Manage all site and supply arrangements with the support and approval of Asst. Director of Operations.  

– Edit, manage, and maintain the camp daily schedule.  

– Serve as the primary supervisor for the programming team, regularly evaluating the performance of staff and their support of the specialists and programs.  

– Lead, create, supervise, and implement all-camp programming.   

– Be directly involved and participate with all campers and staff in daily programs.  

– Communicate with the Associate Camp Director on key matters.

– Work with South Side Unit heads and bunk staff to ensure all camp programming is up to BB360 standards of engagement, safety, and fun  

– Be directly involved and participate with all campers and staff in daily programs  

– Communicate with the Program Director on key matters

– Regularly evaluate the programs and activities planned for Older Unit, Teen Village, and LIT campers.  

– Work with the North Side Unit heads and bunk staff to ensure all camp programming is up to BB360 standards of engagement, safety, and fun.  

– Be directly involved and participate with all campers and staff in daily programs.  

– Communicate with the Program Director on key matters.
