CIT Coordinator

The CIT Coordinator is primarily responsible for care and well-being of the Counselors of Training (CITs) at Day Camp. The CIT Coordinator plans and implements all CIT programming, ensuring a focus on developing skills in child-care and programming, developing professional skills, and recreation/group team building. Day to day tasks include leading CITs in trainings, activities, and projects, supporting CITs through conflicts, and embodying the camp spirit. The CIT Coordinator is flexible, positive, open-minded, and have good communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills.  Must have leadership experience and experience working with children (preferably in a camp setting). Must be 18 years or older and have camp experience. Able to work for at least four weeks in a row, preferably all eight weeks.

Dugma Coordinator

The Dugma Coordinator is primarily responsible for care and well-being of the Middle School Program (Dugma) at Day Camp. Day to day tasks include leading the Dugma group through activities and projects, supporting them through conflicts, and embodying the camp spirit. The Dugma Coordinator is flexible, positive, open-minded, and have good communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills.  Must have leadership experience and experience working with children (preferably in a camp setting). Must be 18 years or older and have camp experience. Able to work for at least four weeks in a row, preferably all eight weeks.

Unit Heads

Unit Heads work on a team to ensure the well-being of all the campers and staff in their units. Day to day tasks include daily staff check-ins, tracking and following up with camper incidents, planning and leading daily camp activities, supervising children during programs and field trips, and embodying the camp spirit. Unit Heads have good problem solving and teamwork skills, they are flexible, positive, open-minded, and good communicators. Must have leadership experience and experience working with children (preferably in a camp setting). Must be 18 years or older and able to work for at least four weeks in a row, preferably all eight weeks.

Head Counselors

Head Counselors will work with a team of staff to supervise and ensure the wellbeing of a group of campers. Day to day tasks include playing and engaging with campers, supporting campers through conflicts, leading daily camp activities, supervising children during programs, and embodying the camp spirit. Head Counselors must be flexible, positive, inclusive, and have good communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Must have experience working with children (preferably in a camp setting). Must be 18 years or older and able to work for at least four weeks in a row, preferably all eight weeks.

Counselors

Counselors will work with a team of staff to supervise and ensure the wellbeing of a group of campers. Day to day tasks include playing and engaging with campers, supporting campers through conflicts, leading daily camp activities, supervising children during programs, and embodying the camp spirit. Counselors must be flexible, positive, inclusive, and have good communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Counselors are rising 11th and 12th graders and able to work for at least four weeks in a row, preferably all eight weeks.

Lifeguards

Lifeguards will join BB Camp in attending weekly all-camp field trips to Klineline Pond. Lifeguards will guard for BB Campers in the lake. This person must have a valid lifeguarding certificate and experience lifeguarding. 18+.

Site Director

Under moderate supervision, provides an effective day camp program by giving direction and guidance to day camp staff and CITs. Implements and directs programs in compliance with BB Camp, ACA, state, local and federal laws, policies and procedures. Provides leadership and is responsible for the welfare and safety of the campers within the assigned camp programs. Responsible for unit program and activities as developed by the campers and unit staff.

Program Coordinator

Under direct supervision, develops and delivers camp activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Assists the day camp site director in providing safe day camp programs by giving direction and guidance to day camp staff and volunteers. Assist in implementing and directing programs in compliance with BB Camp. Provides leadership and is responsible for the welfare and safety of campers within the assigned camp programs. Responsible for providing support and guidance to unit programs and activities as developed by the campers and unit staff.

Head Counselor

Head Counselors will work with a team of staff to supervise and ensure the wellbeing of a group of campers in a certain age group. They will connect, play, and engage with campers, support campers through conflicts and behaviors, and create and lead activities. Head Counselors will support Specialists in leading activities. They will also support Counselors and Counselors in Training in their growth. Head Counselors must be flexible, positive, inclusive, and have good communication and teamwork skills. Must have experience working with children (preferably in a camp setting). High School graduate or older.

This is the perfect summer opportunity for any teen looking for a fun way to get some work experience or fill volunteer hours this summer!

CITs will be able to work with children of different ages and backgrounds and learn from staff members with other skills and specialties. Along with assisting counselors in day-to-day activities, camper supervision, and field trips, CITs will have their own special programming. This program will include daily activities for the CITs to form meaningful relationships with other CITs and build upon their leadership, communication, and teamwork skills. This CIT program will look great on future resumes and college applications! 

FAQs

Do I need any special certifications to work at BB Day Camps?

All staff are required to be certified in First Aid and CPR. Specialists may require other certifications.

Evaluation of all staff, new and returning, will include, but are not limited to: talent, skill, participation, maturity, work ethic, dedication, stamina, and attitude. Staff members must be positive and respectful. It is not how much you know that matters, but how much you care and are willing to learn.

Although it is highly preferred that you attend the full camp it does not necessarily preclude you from being on staff. Those types of instances will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please discuss any time conflicts during your interview.

Each staff member will receive one 30-minute break every day.

Summer salaries are broken into four parts, 20% is received on June 30th, July 15th and July 31st, and then 40% is received on August 15th.

In general, visitors are not permitted while Camp is in session. On occasion, staff may have visitors at Camp with the advance permission of the Camp Director. Such visitors must be greeted by the Camp Director in the administrative area of the Camp.

The following behaviors at BB Camp are taken very seriously and may result in dismissal:

  • Use or sale of illegal drugs, misuse of prescription drugs (including medical marijuana), possession of marijuana, and possession of any alcoholic beverages in camp or during camp-sponsored activities.
  • Physical or verbal abuse of campers or other staff members.
  • Stealing or shoplifting from the camp community or in public.
